Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Disruption/sockpuppetry goes back to 2023. Otherwise little activity on this article. TornadoLGS (talk) 04:18, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Many IP or newly registered users for some reason have frequently come to the article and added either gossip about relationships which haven't been verified, non-notable projects, changing existing information, or entirely removing helpful sentences with citations like the most recent. The page is not really monitored either, but I added a lot to it—with citations and information of course, so this could be nice.Watagwaan (talk) 06:13, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Immediate restoration and continuation of disruptive edits from the same IP ranges as soon as the previous protection period expired. Phạm Văn Rạng and their socks were blocked from making the edits, but they were continued by anonymous IP editors, which led to the previous protection. I don't think it's a coincidence that the IP ranges are the same. Regardless, the page needs to be protected again, and for a much longer period, as the editor who keeps prompting the page protection obviously doesn't care and is just waiting for the page to be unprotected each time. Yue💌 07:43, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of six months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 16:49, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Multiple IPs with a seeming WP:AGENDA attempting to change the name of the people who live there without sourcing. To a lesser extent, the same thing is happening on Kodava people with one of the same IPs. Iiii I I I (talk) 08:42, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. - Ratnahastin (talk) 08:53, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: Disruptive IP Joshua Jonathan - Let's talk! 09:01, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Page is part of WP:ARBPIA, should have ECP. Thanks much!. Smallangryplanet (talk) 09:54, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: Recurring WP:VANDAL from a disgruntled ex-employee with at least 5 active WP:SOC through the past year 2001:861:2043:D410:74A3:FDB7:BBE:5F03 (talk) 10:06, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Repeated additions of unsourced and/or poorly sourced info on critical and commercial reception. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 10:24, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Requesting indefinite semi-protection at least until the car gets a little less popular. This car is currently the most popular car right now, and the article receives high levels of vandalism (there's been at least 10 vandalism edits of the past 50 edits). This is also one of the most viewed pages relating to an automobile. 750h+ 10:43, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: This page has been repeatedly WP:VANDAL by several new and IP users. Requesting semi-protection to prevent further disruption. TimeToFixThis | 🕒 11:48, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Repeated insertion of false information. 178.37.246.211 (talk) 12:49, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. - Kajmer05 (talk) 12:54, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of one month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 14:43, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. - Kajmer05 (talk) 12:55, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of one month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 14:44, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: IPs remove sourced content Panam2014 (talk) 14:13, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – WP:ARBECR + persistent disruptive editing by IPs. Skitash (talk) 14:17, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP adding unsourced POV content repeatedly. PamD 14:36, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Sudden rash of vandalism - 6 different IPs and 2 new accounts yesterday, 7 more IPs (2 now blocked) today - Arjayay (talk) 14:44, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: BLP policy violations. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 14:50, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of IP vandalism and edit warring DMVHistorian (talk) 15:33, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite semi-protection: BLP policy violations. Leonidlednev (TCL) 16:20, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. FMSky (talk) 16:24, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Repeated additions of unsourced material from IPs stemming from speculation. This has been ongoing for a few months now. Trailblazer101 (talk) 16:43, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Request the page be blanked and protected from creation, like Miss Earth 2025 was by User:Pppery, and for the same reason: improper cut-paste recreation from a draft. The article was draftified here and cut-paste recreated here about ten days later. This is just pure disruption. ☆ Bri (talk) 16:56, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Protecting pages from editing makes wikipedia a locked down platform that is susceptible to false narratives. It is 100% against Wikipedia's principles. In this case it is clear that (recent) mounting evidence that supports John Campbell’s views is not included (in this page) and so falsely and unjustly portrays him. It is utterly unfair that a very narrow and untrue/suggestive narrative dominates this page. Wikipedia should support progressive insights into every subject matter and should not block this. In doing so it will make this medium purposefully unreliable and so in the long term worthless. 31.20.161.136 (talk) 14:04, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

This article is written in Spanish and does not have an English version. I am involved in literary scholarship concerning Pereira's work and would like to translate his Wikipedia page into English as part of this work. I need permissions in order to undertake this translation work. Ragazzostar76 (talk) 01:05, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Ragazzostar76: Create a draft for the translation. Nine times out of ten, a straight translation of the page as it currently stands won't work as the English-language Wikipedia has both stricter and better-enforced sourcing standards. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 02:53, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'd also commend your attention to this list if you need/want help. Daniel Case (talk) 04:34, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
